ROBIN AND THE NEW REVOLUTION UK TOUR 2012 @ CAMDEN TOWN

GiGExtra, popular UK Based Nepalese event organising company are in the process of organising a tour of Nepali Rock Band, Robin & the New revolution, in various venues around UK in collaboration with music4children, in order to raise funds and awareness for the children of Nepal. The events will take place in The Underworld Camden, a prominent music venue in the heart of Camden Town,Farnbourgh Football Club Aldershot, Asian community hall Plumbstead and The north School Ashford.
In holding these events we
intend to create an opportunity to promote Nepalese music and culture in the UK and also to raise awareness about the displaced children of Nepal as a consequence of long civil war. Currently in UK many youths, both Nepalese and British are involved in the music scene. Many of these musicians and bands show great promise and this concert will give these young people the opportunity to explore Nepalese music and learn more about Nepal.
Music4children
www.music4children.org
Music4Children is a charity founded in 2005 by a small group of musicians that were touched by the plight of the street children of Nepal. They broke the world record for Worlds Highest Gig in 2005 and most recently reclaimed the world record in May 2012. They have consequently raised enough money to build an orphanage in Dhulikhel east of Kathmandu and fund the education and care of the first group of orphans.

Event Aims and Objectives
Robin & The New Revolution tour 2012 aims to further build on the reputation of GiGExtra as the link between Nepal and the UK for most popular entertainment from Rock bands through to live comedy and in the meantime raise awareness of Music4Children.
Robin & The New Revolution together with band Layasutra will perform the live music concert. Robin & The New Revolution are proven pioneers of the live music scene both in Nepal and abroad. They are the only band in Nepal renowned sell out open Concerts and this tour will act as a tribute to Robin & The New Revolution for their long legacy and legendary status. The tour aims to incorporate London, Aldershot, Ashford and Farnborough as its four musical destinations. The series will also follow bar shows, workshops and other interaction programs. Robin & The New Revolution tour expects to see around 1000 to 1500 fans in London and 700 to 1000 fans in Aldershot, Ashford and Farnborough. The tickets will be accessible and affordable. The approximate price will be £15 each online.
The Concert will feature a one off performance from Layasutra as well as a string of up and coming Nepalese and western bands and DJ’s. The revenue generated from the concerts will go towards promoting and supporting Nepalese musical and cultural links between Nepal and the United Kingdom and the charity Music4children.
Layasutra is a Nepalese funk fusion band made up of vocalists Narendra Pun, Bass Murray, Guitar JoshiJ, Nir Limbu and Drum Allan Shrestha. As a band we have been organising events in UK for the last 8 years from Edinburgh to Farnborough and all across London. At present we organise music and dance events every month in London’s Underworld Camden and Proud gallery for audiences of approximately 500 people. We also organise weekly music events in the Camden Rock, Camden town. One of our most successful programs involved a string of events all over the UK featuring a performance from the popular Nepalese comedian Maha Jodi which sold out, live concert of legendary blues band Mukti N Revival as well as Cobweb, Newaz and many different popular bands. Layasutra have been active since 2002 and have already released one album (San-Ya-Se). The band is also popular in the non-mainstream scene because of their exceptional live performance. We hope to surpass this phenomenal event by bringing Robin & the New Revolution to town.

The importance of this event
Music transcends all nations and this event hopes to strengthen the links between Nepal and the United Kingdom, through the medium of music. Currently many of the Nepalese youth in the UK are isolated from their Nepalese roots and we hope to bring a little piece of Nepal to the UK through this Robin & The New Revolution. We hope this will help to keep these young people in touch with their Nepalese heritage and culture. The event will also give people of the UK the opportunity to see the Nepalese culture in its true light and hopefully give them aspirations to visit Nepal and see firsthand the culture for them.
