Pushpa Basnet started a children's center in Nepal to help care for children of incarcerated parents.

LONDON: Yet another good news for Nepal and Nepalese at large! Pushpa Basnet, who has been involved in rescuing children living with their parents in Nepal prisons, has been nominated in the 'Top 10 CNN Heroes of the Year'.

With this, Pushpa's organization Early Childhood Centre will receive 50,000 US dollars as reward. And more to that: If she gets more votes than any of her nine contenders, she will receive a massive reward of 250,000 US dollars to encourage such benevolent work.

CNN's global audience made public the list of top 10 CNN heroes of 2012 for their extraordinary efforts to help change the world and better the lives of others. Each of them will receive US $ 50, 000 and a chance to be the CNN hero of the year.

According to the CNN website, the nominees will be honoured at "CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute," a globally broadcast event that airs live on December 2 at 9 p.m.

The Hero of the Year will be decided by a public vote. Through November 28, people can vote for their favourite Hero at CNNHeroes.com.

This is the sixth year CNN has conducted its annual search for CNN Heroes. In those years, the campaign has profiled more than 180 people on CNN and CNN.com.

Earlier in 2010, Maiti Nepal Chairman Anuradha Koirala was chosen the CNN Hero of the Year.
